S.M.C. receives ‘Letter of Thanks’ for site manager’s over and above support during COVID-19 outbreak

Schulte Marine Concept (S.M.C.) received an unexpected letter, titled “Letter of Thanks”, addressing to the Managing Director. After it was opened, the letter quickly drew attention of S.M.C.’s management team, which later was also circulated with the Schulte Group’s management board.

The letter is from New Dayang Shipbuilding for appreciating S.M.C. site manager Mr. Jianqing Mao’s contribution during the yard’s fight over COVID outbreak in Yangzhou in July. After multiple local cases were tested in Yangzhou, the whole city was stopped – schools, companies and factories were all closed, following the local government’s policy. One of S.M.C.’s projects, two 75,000 dwt bulk carriers, were being constructed at New Dayang Shipbuilding, and therefore suspended. Our site team was informed to stay at home for self-quarantine. Instead of staying home waiting, our site manager Mao volunteered to join the yard’s team to support the paramedic for carrying out nucleic acid test, including preparation of test sites in early morning, giving away food, cleaning up test sites at day end, etc. The yard production was recovered finally after almost one month.

S.M.C.’s Managing Director Krzysztof Kozdron replied to the shipyard, appreciating their recognition of our people, “We are glad to see New Dayang’s prompt reactivities to get the situation controlled quickly, and we feel honored standing and fighting together with the shipyard.”

Mao is our senior supervisor, who has been working with S.M.C. for 10 years on multiple projects. He joined S.M.C. as a hull supervisor in 2011, then after years of dedication and hardworking, his talent and professionalism was recognized by the company, and he was promoted as our young generation site manager. “We do appreciate Mao’s behavior”, Mr. Kozdron commented, “and it’s great to see that our people are not only good at their professional fields but have social responsibilities.”

Social responsibility is not just word on paper, but all good things we do to other people, no matter how small. We feel proud of our people!
