Keel Laying of 63,600 DWT Bulk Carrier at COSCO (Zhoushan)
SMC is pleased to announce Keel Laying of 63,600 DWT bulk carrier, Hull No. N1093 at COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. Zhoushan, China. This vessel is the eighth in a series of eight ordered by Bank of Communications Financial Leasing Co., Ltd. Shanghai, China.
The vessel will be classed by BV and built to Liberia flag requirements. The expected delivery date is 15 September, 2024.
Launching of 37,000 DWT Bulk Carrier at DSIC
SMC is pleased to announce Launching Ceremony of 37,000 DWT LakeMax General Cargo, Hull No. BC37K-3 at DSIC Shanhaiguan Shipbuilding Industry Co., China. This vessel is the third in a series of twelve ordered by Polsteam, Poland.
The vessel will be classed by LR and built to Liberia flag requirements The anticipated delivery date is 2 July, 2024.
DNV Technical Hull Seminar
Schulte Marine Concept (SMC) has been awarded a contract for plan approval and construction supervision for 14 x 174k LNG carriers ordered at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard by J.P. Morgan, with ABS, DNV and LR selected as classification societies.
To enhance specialized knowledge of Class surveyors and owner supervisors, both the DNV and SMC site offices have agreed to share knowledge and experience with the newbuilding of modern LNG carriers through technical seminars. The first “Hull structure Seminar ” was arranged on 18th of April 2024 at DNV Gohyeon Station Office.
Mr. Youngryel LEE, Surveyor of DNV, has prepared an LNG carrier project specific presentation with focus on the hull structure critical areas and how these can be identified on the hull construction drawings prior to survey/inspection, and how such areas are to be further competently monitored during vessel’s construction. All participants discussed also practical aspects of efficient vessel’s construction supervision given the challenges imposed by the complexity of the LNG carrier construction and intensity of the construction and inspections works.
The session was attended by the team SMC’s site team hull supervisors led by Mr. Pramod Chambath, SMC Korea Country Manager and Mr. Ji Hyun Choi, SMC Site Manager together with Mr. Dong Jin Seo, Naval Architect from Charter “QatarEnergy LNG”. DNV was represented by Young Ryel Lee.
Steel Cutting of 64,000 DWT Bulk Carrier at NACKS
SMC is pleased to announce the Steel Cutting of 64,000 DWT bulk carrier, Hull No. NE446 at Nantong COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co. Ltd, China. This vessel is the second in a series of two ordered by OBE Ships Maritime SA Dubai, UAE.
The vessel will be classed by NK and built to Liberian flag requirements. It is scheduled for delivery on 1 February, 2025.
Keel Laying of 174,000 CBM LNGC at SHI
SMC is delighted to announce Keel Laying of 174,000 m3 LNG carrier, Hull No. SN2601 at Samsung Heavy Industries, Korea. This vessel is the sixth in a series of six ordered by Bermuda based companies.
The vessel will be classed by BV and built to Liberia flag requirements. It is scheduled for delivery on 31 January, 2025.
Keel Laying of 7,600 CBM LNG Bunkering Vessel at CIMC SOE
SMC is thrilled to report Keel Laying of 7,600 m3 LNG bunkering vessel, Hull No. S1067 at CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. China. This is the third of three LNG bunkering vessels ordered by Seaspan ULC, Canada.
The vessel will be classed by BV and built to Canadian flag requirements. Delivery of the vessel is scheduled for 18 December, 2024.
SMC celebrates the delivery of 70,000 dwt woodchip carrier
In a grand celebration, SMC proudly announces the successful delivery of two state-of-the-art 70,000 DWT wood chip carriers – the mv “SDM HUBEI” and mv “SDM BEIHAI”, delivered in March and April 2024 respectively. These two vessels were contracted by the Bank of Communications Financials Leasing Co., Ltd for the construction at the CSSC Chengxi Shipyard in Yangzhou, China.
This achievement marks a significant milestone in SMC’s journey and entry into the wood chip carriers’ sector, with the “SDM HUBEI” and “SDM BEIHAI” representing high end specification and modern design of vessels. Both vessels have been classed by ABS, meeting the stringent requirements of the Liberia flag.

SMC is pleased to report Launching of 7,600 m3 LNG bunkering vessel, Hull No. S1062 at CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. China. This is the second of three vessels ordered by Seaspan ULC, Canada.
The vessel will be classed by BV and built to Canadian flag requirements. Delivery of the vessel is scheduled for September 30, 2024.
Steel Cutting of 93,500 TLC Floating Dry Dock at BSIC
SMC is delighted to announce Steel Cutting of 93,500 TLC floating dry dock, Hull No. FDD93.5K-1 at Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., China. This is the first FDD in a series of two, with capacities of 93,500 TLC and 120,000 TLC , ordered by Grand Bahama Shipyard, Bahamas.
This floating dry dock will be classed by LR and built to Bahamas flag requirements. The anticipated delivery date is 7 August, 2025.

The vessel will be classed by LR and built to Malta flag requirements. It is scheduled to be delivered on 18 March, 2025.
