Steel Cutting of 62,000 DWT Heavy-lift Multi-purpose Vessel at CCSC Chengxi Shipyard

SMC is delighted to announce the Steel Cutting Ceremony for a 62,000 DWT heavy-lift multi-purpose vessel (Hull No. CX9612) under its supervision at CSSC Chengxi shipyard (Yangzhou), China. This is the last vessel in a series of twelve ordered by Bank of Communications Financials Leasing Co., Ltd, China.

The vessel will be classed by CCS and built to Liberia flag requirements. The delivery of the vessel is scheduled on 11 June 2025.

Launching Ceremony of 82,000 DWT Bulk Carrier at Hengli Shipyard

SMC is delighted to announce the Launching Ceremony for an 82,000 DWT bulk carrier (Hull No. HN2006) under its supervision at Hengli Shipyard, China. This is the second vessel in a series of four vessels ordered by Hairun Shipping Limited, China.

The vessel will be classed by ABS Register and built to Singapore flag requirements. The delivery of the vessel is scheduled for 30 November 2024.

Delivery of 65,000 DWT Bulk Carrier at DSIC Shanhaiguan Shipyard

SMC is delighted to announce the Delivery Ceremony for a 65,000 DWT bulk carrier (Hull No. B65K-3) under its supervision at DSIC Shanhaiguan Shipyard, China. This is the third vessel in a series of ten ordered by CHN ENERGY Group Shipping Co., Ltd.

The vessel will be classed by CCS Register and built to China flag requirements. The delivery of the vessel is scheduled for 28 August 2024.

Steel Cutting of 9,300 CEU PCTC at China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu)

SMC is delighted to announce the Steel Cutting Ceremony for a 9,300 CEU PCTC (Hull No. CMHI293-02) under its supervision at China Merchants Heavy Industry (Jiangsu), China. This is the second vessel in a series of two ordered by China Merchants Energy Transport Investment Co., Ltd.

The vessel will be classed by DNV & CCS and built to Hong Kong flag requirements. The delivery of the vessel is scheduled for 15 November 2025.

Steel Cutting of 64,000 DWT Bulk Carrier at New Dayang Shipyard

SMC is delighted to announce the Steel Cutting Ceremony for a 64,000 DWT bulk carrier (Hull No. NDY1273) under its supervision at New Dayang Shipyard, China. This is the third vessel in a series of six ordered by Emarat Maritime LLC, U.A.E.

The vessel will be classed by ABS and built to Marshall flag requirements. The delivery of the vessel is scheduled for 14 July 2025.

Steel Cutting of 174,000 m3 LNG Carrier at Samsung Heavy Industries

SMC is delighted to announce the Steel Cutting Ceremony for a 174,000 m3 LNG Carrier (Hull no. SN2643) under its supervision at Samsung Heavy Industries, Korea. This is the vessel ordered by Tropic 16 Limited, Bermuda.

The vessel will be classed by American Bureau of Shipping and built to Republic of Liberia flag requirements. The delivery of the vessel is scheduled for 16 January 2026.

Steel Cutting of 120K TLC Floating Dry Dock at Qingdao Beihai Shipyard

SMC is delighted to announce the Steel Cutting ceremony for a 120,000 TLC floating dry dock (Hull No. FDD120K-1) under its supervision at Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Co. Ltd., China. This is the second FDD in a series of two ordered by Grand Bahama Shipyard Limited, Bahamas.

The vessel will be classed by Lloyd’s Register and built to Bahamas flag requirements. The delivery of the vessel is scheduled for 07 February 2026.

Naming and delivery ceremony of China’s first two offshore wind power SOVs held

China is undergoing a transformative shift in its energy landscape. According to latest data from the country’s National Energy Administration NEA, renewables have surpassed coal in capacity as of June this year. With the delivery of China’s first two SOVs, the country is taking yet another step towards further developing the domestic offshore wind energy sector.

On 16 August 2024, the naming and delivery ceremony of the first two China-built offshore wind power SOVs (Service Operation Vessels) ‘ZHI ZHEN 100’ and ‘ZHI CHENG 60’ was held in Qidong, China. The two SOVs were delivered by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. to Shanghai Electric Wind Power Group Co., Ltd., with Schulte Marine Concept (SMC) being responsible for plan approval and vessels’ construction and commissioning supervision.

Mr Krzysztof Kozdron, Managing Director of SMC said: “We are very proud to have been part of this historic project. The two SOVs are the first offshore wind power operation and maintenance vessels built in China giving a testimony to the impressive capability and capacity of the shipbuilding industry in China. These state-of-the-art vessels will form a strong and reliable foundation in the operation and maintenance of the domestic distant offshore wind parks, while further promoting sustainable development of the Chinese offshore wind power generation industry.”

Basic design for the vessels was developed and provided by the Norwegian company Ulstein, detail design and production design were developed by Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. The ‘ZHI ZHEN 100’ has an overall length of 93.4 metres, a beam of 18 metres, a depth of 7.6 metres and can accommodate 100 persons on board, while the ‘ZHI CHENG 60’ has an overall length of 72.76 metres, a beam of 17.5 metres, a depth of 7 metres and is designed for a complement of 60 persons on board.

The ULSTEIN’s X-BOW® hull form concept featured by the vessels ensures exceptional performances in both calm seas and rough weather, including enhanced station keeping, wave response, crew and technicians’ comfort and safety onboard while in high seas as well as stern-to-weather operations capability and capacity boosting vessels’ both ahead and astern operability.

Both SOVs are equipped with technologically advanced battery and DC electric propulsion system as well as high capability DP2 dynamic positioning system. Further, vessels are fitted with sophisticated walk-to-work motion compensated gangway, offshore crane and high-speed daughter craft, to ensure safe and efficient transfer of personnel and spares for wind turbines overhaul and components replacement.

Before delivery, the vessels were subject to a very rigorous and exhaustive commissioning program, covering specialized offshore trials for motion compensated gangway, offshore crane and DP system, including demanding Failure Mode and Effects Analysis tests. Both vessels have been registered with China Classification Society.

China is presently the global leader in offshore wind power generation, continuously developing its potential, the country aims to achieve a capacity of 55 GW by 2030.

SMC is delighted to announce the Delivery Ceremony for a 63,600 DWT bulk carrier (Hull No N1093) under its supervision at COSCO Zhoushan Shipyard, China. This is the eighth vessels in a series of eight ordered by Bank of Communications Financial Leasing Co., Ltd, China.

The vessel will be classed by CCS and built to Liberia flag requirements. The delivery of the vessel is scheduled for 15 August 2024.
