In July, the Schulte Marine Concept (S.M.C) held the “Schulte-Hyundai Day Korea” at the Signiel Hotel, Busan. The event was attended by over 30 guests from HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI), and Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD), who were welcomed by Johann B. Schulte, CCO of Bernhard Schulte (BS) and Krzysztof Kozdron, Managing Director of Schulte Marine Concept (S.M.C).
At the opening of the event, Johann gave an overview of the Schulte Group’s fleet and global maritime services, followed by Krzysztof presenting S.M.C.’s profile and expertise across various vessel types and recent achievements in development and execution of newbuilding projects. Both presenters highlighted long term successful cooperation between Hyundai Group and Schulte Group, including execution of high profile and prototype vessels and onboard equipment and novel technology.

Krzysztof on the event: “The purpose of the event was to strengthen our ties with the Hyundai Group and foster further mutual cooperation and support, creating business opportunities for both Groups.”
Hyundai Group is one of the largest shipbuilding groups in South Korea with three affiliated shipyards – HD Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI), and Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD).
Collaboration history between the Schulte Group and the Hyundai Group
Bernhard Schulte’s first two newbuilding projects ordered at Hyundai Group were 1800teu container vessel MV “Astrid Schulte”, delivered in 1990 from HHI, and, in 1999, self-unloading bulk carrier MV “Weser Stahl”, delivered from HMD. And so far, BS has built 35 ships at Hyundai Group shipyards, including bulk carriers, chemical and product tankers, container vessels, LNG bunkering vessel and LPG carriers.
S.M.C has supervised over 150 vessels at the Hyundai Group shipyards, with vessel types varying from gas carriers (LNG carriers, LNG bunkering vessels, LPG carriers, ammonia carriers), through containers, crude oil and product tankers and bulk carriers.

South Korea holds significant importance for S.M.C Since the delivery of its first newbuilding supervision project ordered by BS from HHI in 1990, S.M.C has expanded in the South Korean market for over two decades.
To date, S.M.C has delivered over 226 vessels from 14 shipyards across South Korea, with 57 more vessels as ongoing projects that include 31 large scale LNG carriers, 3 LPG/NH3 carriers, 15 product tankers and 5 large container vessels. To efficiently manage these extensive projects and bolster its presence in the local market, S.M.C inaugurated its South Korea Representative Office in 2022. Presently, over 70 supervisors are deployed, and actively supervise construction and commissioning of these vessels.
Successful 2024 for S.M.C
In the first half of 2024, S.M.C has maintained its business growth, overseeing over 250 vessels of diverse types such as bulk carriers, container vessels, general cargo ships, multipurpose vessels, chemical/product tankers, gas carrier(large and small scale LNG carriers, LNG bunkering vessels, LPG carriers, LCO2 carriers, FSRU, expedition cruise vessels, ferries, as well as offshore (jack-ups, SOVs, AHT) and specialized units (transshipment barge, floating dry docks). Meanwhile, S.M.C also upgraded its plan approval software (PAL-PA) and site supervision software (PAL-NB), and launched the PAL-NB mobile application, all aiming to enhance efficiency.
