Keel laying of the 3rd VLCC at DSIC

While the Steel Cutting was completed on 5th March 2018, the production Keel Laying for Hull No T308K-3 was carried out on 10th August 2018 on DSIC Slipway No. H3 in the presence of Classification (LR), SMC site team and DSIC personnel. She is the third unit from a series of three 308,000 DWT crude oil tankers for Landbridge Holdings, Hong Kong.

This vessel will be built to Hong Kong flag requirements and classed by Lloyds Register.

Delivery of this vessel is scheduled for 31st May 2019.

SMC secures plan approval and site supervision services for second LNG bunkering vessel project

SMC is pleased to announce it has been contracted to provide plan approval and site supervision services in relation to a 7,500 m3 LNG bunkering vessel with expected delivery in 2020.

It’s our second LNG bunkering project, with the first one being jointly owned by our parent company Bernhard Schulte and Babcock 7,500 m3 currently under construction at Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, Korea.

LNG bunkering vessels are a tailor-made designs developed to meet the demand for LNG bunkering, with LNG bunkering carried out at sea, a method more efficient compared with conventional approaches which require ships to call at port in order to get bunkered from shore LNG infrastructure.

Delivery of “Pacific Harves”

SMC is pleased to report the delivery in Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., China: of mv “PACIFIC HARVES”, Hull No. H1446, the second unit from a series of 4 x 400,000 DWT VLOC ordered by China Merchants, China and ICBC Leasing, China.

All vessels in the series are classed by DNV-GL & CCS and built to Hongkong flag requirements.

Launching of multipurpose trenching cable laying vessel

SMC is pleased to report the launching on 26th July in Ningbo Manyang Shipyard, Zhejiang, China of MV “ZHONG YOU GUAN DAO 681”, the 3,120 GT multipurpose trenching cable laying vessel ordered by CPP engineering company, Tianjin, China.

The vessel will be classed by CCS and built to China flag requirements.

Delivery of the vessel is scheduled for 15th September 2018.

Delivery of mv “Aurora Confidence”

SMC is pleased to report the delivery ceremony in Yangzhou Binjiang Shipbuilding Co., Ltd, China, of mv “Aurora Confidence”, Hull No. DY 6004, the second unit from a series of four 82,000 DWT bulk carrier ordered by Sumec, China.

All vessels in the series are classed by Class NK’s Register and has been built to Marshall Island flag requirements.

Vessel supervision was taken over by SMC at the midway of construction schedule on 1st of June 2018.

Keel laying of MR tanker

SMC is pleased to report Keel Laying in Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co. Ltd., South Korea of Hull No. 2636, the 7th unit from a series of 8 x 50,000 DWT Product/Chemical Tanker ordered by Union Maritime, United Kingdom.

The vessel will be classed by LR and will be built to Liberian flag requirements.

Delivery of the vessel is scheduled for 15th January 2019.

BWTS retrofit project

SMC is pleased to announce that we are continuing with Ballast Water Treatment System (BWTS) retrofit management. On 12th July 2018, SMC carried out survey for a 20,600 m3 LPG Carrier, “Immanuel Schulte” at the jetty in Tuticorin, India. During the survey, the following items have been inspected on board the vessel:

  • possible locations for the installation of the different components
  • tie-in locations into existing piping systems
  • wire routing, cable penetrations
  • main switchboard for available space for additional breakers

Forward part of the engine room (floor level and 3rd deck level) has been 3D scanned and proposal of possible lay-out and installation is under development.

The whole design process is expected to take 12 weeks, including Class approval process. All production documentation, including material specification, will be finished before the vessel’s drydocking scheduled for October 2018. Installation process of BWTS will be carried out by repair yard and supervised by SMC.

Erection of VLOC

SMC is pleased to report Naming and Delivery Ceremony in Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group, China of mv “ORE SHENZHEN”, Hull No. YZJ2015-2276, the second unit from the series of 6 x 400,000 DWT VLOC ordered by ICBC Leasing, China.
