Steel cutting of FPSO hull at COSCO Zhoushan

SMC is pleased to report that Steel Cutting ceremony was held at COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) Co., Ltd, China for the hull of Karish FPSO, Hull No. N808.

After completion the 160,000 DWT unit is going to be owned by Energean Oil and Gas Company and installed on Karish Field offshore Israel.

The hull will be built to DNV-GL rules and latest international regulations.

Delivery of the hull is scheduled for 15th of December 2019

SMC signs supervision contract with AVIC Leasing

Shortly after the contract with the Bank of Communication Financial Leasing, SMC has successfully secured a supervision contract for a series of eight 64,000 dwt bulk carriers from another leasing company in China – AVIC International Leasing.

Four vessels from the series are distressed assets with construction yet to be finished, while the remaining four are real newbuilding. The vessels are under construction at New Dayang, and SMC’s supervision on site started in early October.

AVIC Leasing is the largest leasing company in China among non-financial institute leasing firms and is determined to enlarge its operating lease business by entering the shipping industry.

This is SMC’s first cooperation with AVIC Leasing, and we wish this new partnership will help SMC in the future with acquiring more newbuilding projects.

Retrofit completion of multipurpose trenching cable laying vessel

SMC is pleased to report the major retrofit work of mv “ZHONG YOU GUAN DAO 681” was completed under our supervision (pending for Class certificate issuing). The retrofit of the 3,120 GT multipurpose trenching cable laying vessel was carried out by Ninbgo Manyang Shipyard, Zhejiang, China for CPP Engineering Company, Tianjin, China.

The vessel is classed by CCS and built to China flag requirements.

Official delivery of the vessel is scheduled for 15th Jan 2019.

Delivery of product tanker at HMD

SMC is pleased to report delivery in Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Co. Ltd., South Korea, of Hull No. 8224, the fifth unit from the series of 8 x 50,000 DWT Product/Chemical Tanker ordered by Union Maritime, UK.

Technical management of the vessel will be by Latvian Shipping Company (LSC), Riga.

Erection starting of bulk carrier at Taizhou Kouan

SMC is pleased to report erection starting of Hull No. TK1030 (in building dock was carried out at 1000 hours, on 09th Oct 2018 in Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding Co. Ltd, China in the presence of representatives from Owner and Lloyd’s Register. This is the second unit from a series of 4 X GREEN DOLPHIN 38,500 DWT Bulk Carriers ordered by Bernhard Schulte GmBH, Germany.

The vessel will be classed by LR and built to the Singapore flag requirements.

Delivery of the vessel is scheduled for 30th April 2019.

Launching of VLCC at DSIC

While the steel cutting was completed on 1st November 2017 and Keel Laying for Hull No. T308K-1 carried out on 8th May 2018, this vessel was launched from the DSIC Building Dock on 28th September 2018 in the presence of the Owner (Landbridge), Classification (CCS) and SMC Site Office personnel. This is the first unit from a series of 3 x 308,000 DWT Crude Oil Tankers for Landbridge Holdings, Hong Kong.

This vessel will be built to Hong Kong flag requirements and classed by CCS Register.

Delivery of this vessel is scheduled for 31st December 2018.

Production commencement of VLCC at DISC

SMC is pleased to report the production commencement for Hull No. T308K-2, the third unit from the series of 3 x 308,000 dwt Crude Oil Tankers for Landbridge Holdings, Hong Kong was carried out on 27th September 2018 at Dalian Shipbuilding Heavy Industry, in the presence of the Owner, SMC and BV Classification.

The vessel will be built to Hong Kong flag requirements and classed by Bureau Veritas.

Delivery of the vessel is scheduled for 30th November 2019.
