Keel Laying of 63,600 DWT Bulk Carrier at COSCO Zhoushan

SMC is delighted to announce the Keel Laying of 63,600 DWT bulk carrier (Hull No. N1142) at COSCO Shpping Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) Co., Ltd, China. This is the third vessel in a series of three vessels ordered by Hong Kong Zhoushan Yihai Shipping Co., Ltd.

The vessel will be classed by CCS and built to Liberia flag requirements, scheduled to be delivered on 08 November 2024.

Launching of 37,000 DWT Bulk Carrier at DSIC

SMC is pleased to announce Launching Ceremony of LakeMax General Cargo 37,000 DWT Bulk Carrier, Hull No. BC37K-4 at DSIC Shanhaiguan Shipbuilding Industry Co., China. This is the fourth in a series of twelfth vessels ordered by PolSteam, Poland.

The vessel will be classed by LR and built to Portugal flag requirements, scheduled to be delivered on 21 September 2024.

Steel Cutting Ceremony of 62,000 DWT MPV at Chengxi Shipyard

SMC is pleased to announce Steel Cutting of 62,000 DWT Heavy-Lift Multi-Purpose Vessel, Hull No. CX9610 at CSSC Chengxi Shipyard (Yangzhou), China. This is the tenth vessel in a series of twelve ordered by Bank of Communications Financials Leasing Co., Ltd, China.

The vessel will be classed by CCS and built to Liberia flag requirements, scheduled to be delivered on 21 April 2025.

Steel Cutting for 174,000 m3 LNGC at SHI

SMC is pleased to announce Steel Cutting of 174,000 m3 LNG carrier, Hull No. SN 2642 at Samsung Heavy Industries, Korea. This vessel was ordered by Tropic 15 Limited.

The vessel will be classed by LR and built to the flag of Republic of Liberia, scheduled to be delivered on 16 December 2025.

Launching of 200 Pax and Cargo Vessel at Honda Heavy Industries Co. Ltd. in Seiki, Japan

SMC is pleased to announce christening and launching of mv “MANU SINA” a 200 Pax and Cargo Vessel, Hull number S‑1152, at Honda Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. in Seiki, Japan. The Vessel is built for the Government of Tuvalu, and construction is financed by Asian Development Bank, with project management executed by Braemar.

“MANU SINA” was designed and will be completed to fulfill very specific trad demands in the Tuvaluan waters in the Pacific Ocean. Part of the only viable and sustainable means of transportation and trade in the area, she will serve the population of the archipelago by ferrying passengers whilst carrying essentials and varied cargoes between islands. Vessel is be classed by the Class NK and built to Tuvalu Flag requirements, scheduled to be delivered on 10 February 2025.

Delivery of BC37K at DSIC

SMC is pleased to announce the delivery of LakeMax General Cargo 37K DWT, Hull No. BC37K-3 at DSIC Shanhaiguan Shipbuilding Industry Co., China. This is the third vessel in a series of twelve   vessels ordered by Polsteam, Poland.

The vessel will be classed by LR and built to Liberian flag requirements, and is scheduled to be delivered on 02nd July 2024.

SMC overview of H1

The first half of 2024 has been a bustling and rewarding period for SMC. The company has successfully secured 11 new projects, encompassing 45 vessels, elevating the total number of ongoing vessels to 242. 

The diverse portfolio of vessels includes bulk carriers, containers, general cargo ships, multipurpose vessels, chemical/product tankers, gas carriers (LNG, LPG, and LCO2), passenger ships and ro-ro (arctic expedition cruise vessel, car/passenger ferries, PCTCs and sailing ro-ro), as well as offshore and specialized units (CSOVs, self-elevating units, transshipment barge, high speed boats). These vessels are being constructed in various shipyards located across China, Korea, Turkey, Vietnam, Japan, Portugal, Poland, and the Netherlands.

To manage this extensive range of projects efficiently, SMC has bolstered its project management team, plan approval team, and HR team. The company has also upgraded its plan approval software (PAL-PA) and site supervision software (PAL-NB), and launched the PAL-NB mobile application, all aimed at enhancing efficiency.

SMC has also made significant strides in boosting project operational compliance to company policies and procedures, in a bid to maintain high standards of service performance. This includes holding quarterly project manager meetings, annual site manager seminars, dedicated hull seminars, and project compliance audits.

With a successful first half of the year behind them, SMC is looking forward to an even more prosperous second half of 2024.

Delivery of 174k LNG at SHI

SMC is pleased to announce the delivery of LNG, 174K, Hull No. SN2593 (“Venture Gator”) at SHI, Korea. This is the second vessel in a series of six vessels ordered by Bermuda based companies.

The vessel is classed by ABS and built to Liberia flag requirements, and is scheduled to be delivered on 01st July 2024.

Launching of 7.6K LBV at CIMC SOE

SMC is pleased to report the launching at CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd. China, of mv “SEASPAN BAKER”, Hull No. S1067, the three units of 7.6k LNG Bunkering Vessel ordered by SEASPAN ULC, Canada.

The vessel will be classed by BV and built to Canadian flag requirements.

Delivery of the vessel is scheduled for 18th December 2024.
