SMC overview of H1
The first half of 2024 has been a bustling and rewarding period for SMC. The company has successfully secured 11 new projects, encompassing 45 vessels, elevating the total number of ongoing vessels to 242.
The diverse portfolio of vessels includes bulk carriers, containers, general cargo ships, multipurpose vessels, chemical/product tankers, gas carriers (LNG, LPG, and LCO2), passenger ships and ro-ro (arctic expedition cruise vessel, car/passenger ferries, PCTCs and sailing ro-ro), as well as offshore and specialized units (CSOVs, self-elevating units, transshipment barge, high speed boats). These vessels are being constructed in various shipyards located across China, Korea, Turkey, Vietnam, Japan, Portugal, Poland, and the Netherlands.
To manage this extensive range of projects efficiently, SMC has bolstered its project management team, plan approval team, and HR team. The company has also upgraded its plan approval software (PAL-PA) and site supervision software (PAL-NB), and launched the PAL-NB mobile application, all aimed at enhancing efficiency.
SMC has also made significant strides in boosting project operational compliance to company policies and procedures, in a bid to maintain high standards of service performance. This includes holding quarterly project manager meetings, annual site manager seminars, dedicated hull seminars, and project compliance audits.
With a successful first half of the year behind them, SMC is looking forward to an even more prosperous second half of 2024.
